AFK Today 10/7/2022

How’s it going yall! This Friday we got some updates about the League of Legends Worlds Championship as well as Overwatch 2 launch issues. Come check out what’s been going on in the PC gaming world as well as a sneak peek of our latest game review, Stray.

The results are in and NA’s dream stays alive after last week’s group stage. The qualifying NA teams, 100 Thieves, Cloud9, and Evil Geniuses are NA’s last hope for the first NA team to win in League’s World Championship Series. This past week, during the first group stage, EG smashed Europe’s 4th seed, Mad Lions, after a 3-0 stomp of a best of 5 series. This Friday, the other qualifying NA team, C9, faces off against Fnatic, a top-tier EU team. Can C9 come out on top and continue the drive for NA’s success in this Worlds Series or will they fall flat and give hope to the other two NA teams? Check out the World’s stream on lolesport’s YouTube.

Overwatch 2 DDOS Attack at Launch

Activision Blizzard has its hands full dealing with all the mixed feedback that Overwatch 2 has been getting since release. Major DDOS attacks added into the pot of troubles and made the servers incredibly slow to join. We experienced this issue first hand, taking up to a full hour to even play the game. Not exactly the best first impression you want to give to players who were disappointed that development was taking so long. Expect the server issues to die down in the next few days, but we will keep an eye on everything Overwatch 2 has to offer. For more specific info on the attack itself from PCGamer, click here.

Remember When Activision Blizzard Got Bought Out?

Earlier this year, Activision Blizzard was in the process of being merged with Microsoft. The effects of that transition only just now became more transparent with the release of a website by Microsoft listing off the benefits they bring to the table. You can check out the website here, and the breakdown by GameRant here. With the recent release of Overwatch 2 and the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 release, we will see if Microsoft can clean up the mess that Activision Blizzard has left over the last couple of years. Microsoft’s purchase of Minecraft has been going relatively smoothly, albeit with very slow updates, but I can imagine that the buy-out might just get Blizzard back on track. Let us know what you think of Blizzard's future, do you think they will ever return to their glory days?
