AFK Today 11/11/2022

Hope you’re all having a great Friday afternoon! The biggest story in gaming this week is undoubtedly the release of God of War. Many of you will be losing hours to this game over the weekend and we’d love to hear what you all think. In other news, Mick Gordon is at odds with id Software over his composition in Doom: Eternal and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is scheduled to release on November 30th. Let’s get into it.

God of War: Ragnarök Out Now!

Keeping up with the hype train for Playstation players and God of War fans, you can be sure the world will be talking about this game for years to come. It is overwhelmingly loved by the community and will give Elden Ring a run for its money as Game of the Year. Not many can match the fury of Kratos (except maybe Doom Guy?), but I think we are all dying to see how his story unfolds with his son. Just make sure you hurry up and play it so you can avoid those YouTube title spoilers!

Doom: Eternal Composer Allegations

Every Doom fan can attest to the great music pieces that the composer Mick Gordon puts out. Nothing fits better into Doom than chainsaws as instruments. Unfortunately, it looks like Hell wasn’t the only inhospitable environment that id Software (Doom: Eternal publishers) created. From what Mick Gordon has come out publicly to announce, he has accused id Software management of tight deadline crunches, unprofessional berating, and even refusing to pay him for most of his work. Apparently, Mick Gordon was even offered up to six figures in cash in legal proceedings if he took responsibility, which he said he declined. Who knows how far up or down this story goes, but hopefully we will see it land on a good note. Check IGN’s article here for more.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide - World Intro Trailer

After nearly two years since the first teaser, we finally know what happens to the ending team who were destined to chaos. With the World Intro Trailer releasing yesterday, we see the signature Warhammer style and ominous music leading from the darkness. A massive starship breaks through a portal into space as 4 members of the Astra Militarum are trying to get away. Although this trailer doesn't give us anything new, it reinforces the dark, horrific and fantasy-like storyline that Warhammer players love. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is set to launch on November 30th and is available for pre purchase now. Check out the World Intro Trailer here.
