Microsoft's Acquisition of Activision Blizzard Blocked

After a major bid in the gaming media market, Microsoft’s attempt to acquire Activision Blizzard has been officially blocked by the UK Competition and Markets Authority. The reason cited is that Microsoft’s acquisition would give them an overwhelming position in the cloud gaming market. It is certainly a good thing when monopolies are disrupted, but would Microsoft’s acquisition be such a massive conglomerate? Given that the gaming sphere is really suffering from major corporations making anti-consumer decisions, I think it is best that competition is allowed to hold some ground against some of these industry giants without any central corporation taking over everything.

Steam Overlay Overhaul

New features in the shift+tab steam overlay could help you when playing games. Some features include writing notes, look at recent achievements, view guides, or watch videos in a pinned box overlaid over your game. While some may have multiple monitors that can fix this issue, single monitor users will find this feature incredibly useful, so thank you Steam! Let me know what other uses you think this could be used for down in the comments. Check out the full features over on PC Gamer here.

The much-awaited game, Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, made its debut on the Steam market last night, but unfortunately, it seems to have hit hard for many players. Even on top-of-the-line PCs, the game is causing performance issues right from the first cutscene, making it one of the unfortunate additions to the list of AAA games that have been released with technical issues. Hopefully everything gets sorted out and patched up but sadly, it will only be another waiting game. To check out more information on the release, click here.
