AFK Today 5/27/2022

Updated: Jun 17, 2022

Welcome, everyone! Thanks for tuning into our first newsletter, we’re amped to be sharing our perspective on the gaming world every week from here on out. You can expect this newsletter to come at 6 pm EST every Friday!

Portkey Games: Hogwarts Legacy Set to Release Holiday 2022

Many have wondered if Hogwarts Legacy will ever be released after a few delays in publishing throughout the last year. The new RPG takes place in the wizarding world of Harry Potter but at a much earlier time than the classic films or books. As for its relation to J.K. Rowling, Portkey Games has vowed to remain authentic and has created a team with Warner Brothers with whom J.K. Rowling has entrusted the design and creation too. In this open-world setting dated back to the 1800s, you can build up your wizard persona, make new potions, defeat new enemies, tame mounts, and much more. Let's hope the game plays as well as it looks; it officially releases at the end of the year. For more information about the developers, the game itself, and screenshots, head over to

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Release Date Announced

Ever wonder what Gollum’s perspective was during the Lord of the Rings? The developers at Daedalic Entertainment plan on giving you that exact perspective. Set to release on September 1st, 2022, we are certainly interested to see how a smaller studio handles the LOTR franchise in gaming. Stealth seems to be the primary mechanic in the game, let’s hope they can live up to the likes of Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War, which both had very satisfying stealth gameplay. See more information on the game and screenshots on

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Set to Release This October

The fate of Call of Duty remains uncertain after Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, but it seems that the sequel to the first Modern Warfare reboot has been given a release date of October 28 of this year. Rumors suggest that this will be the last Call of Duty game released within an annual timeframe, with the next few spending more time in development. We think this could mean that the quality of the games is going to improve, or alternatively, they're losing their funding. Hopefully, Call of Duty can reignite the passion of the FPS genre with some Modern Warfare 2 later this year. If you would like to know more about this reboot, take a look at and see what you think.

Game Reviews

Fromsoftware’s games just keep going beyond expectations, and Elden Ring has somehow managed to live up to the massive hype train. You might have some hesitation buying any recent triple-A games because of how disappointing some of them have been recently, but rest assured that Elden Ring knocks it out of the ballpark. Feel free to take a look at our Elden Ring Review to see how the game plays and feels. Everyone here at The AFK Company loves playing all sorts of game genres, and we want to share all that experience with you. We will be releasing a review just like this one every week so that you can learn more about your favorite games or games you might be thinking of buying.

EG Progresses to MSI Semifinals

Hope stays alive as Evil Geniuses, former LCS Spring Split champions, defeat SKT T1 on day four of the rumble stage, allowing them to advance to the semifinals along with Royal Never Give Up, T1, and G2 Esports. Although EG only pulled off one victory on each of the five days of the rumble stage, LCS fans can be reassured that their dreams of a North American MSI victory can be achieved. The remaining four teams will play in a knockout stage starting with EG vs RNG on Friday, May 27th. That following Sunday, only one team can be named champion of the 2022 MSI tournament. Will EG prevail and answer all of the LCS fans’ prayers?

If you want to get to know us better and what our interests are, click here for our bios. Everyone is welcome, from hardcore players to casual gamers, we wanted to create something where anyone can get info that is useful and enjoyable. With that in mind, we will be releasing gaming news and reviews every week. AAA, Indie, Retro; Every type of game genre will be reviewed. You won’t find the point systems that other gaming news companies use here. We opted for a fair and informational rating system. We get that some games have a value that can’t be translated into a simple score system. Our scores will be descriptive, outlining how we felt the game was, and why we thought those things. Please comment! We want feedback, and we know that sometimes we can be wrong about a game. Let us know so we can learn and bring better information to all our readers.
