AFK Today 5/5/2023

What is up gamers? This week we have light news covering the interview of Phil Spencer, the CEO of Xbox, the confirmed development of Mortal Kombat 12, and this month’s PlayStation Plus games! As per usual, we also have our favorite Steam sales of the week! The weather may be getting nicer but that won’t stop us from gaming! Keep on!

Phil Spencer Interview Overview

The CEO of Xbox, Phil Spencer, took to an interview to discuss multiple major topics, including Redfall’s disastrous launch. In a surprise twist, he admitted that Redfall fell short of their expectations, and hoped that with continued updates it would improve like some other similar Xbox shaky launches such as Grounded and Sea of Thieves. Both games had lackluster original releases, but eventually grew to be very popular in their respective communities. If you want to see our video review of Grounded to see how good that game became, click here or check out The AFK Company Youtube channel. For anyone looking for Starfield news, Spencer mentioned that Starfield direct streams would be on June 11th along with the Xbox games showcase.

Mortal Kombat 12 Confirmed Development

In a thank-you video from NetherRealm Studios you can view on Youtube, they confirmed that Mortal Kombat 12 would be releasing some time this year. This confirmation means Injustice 3 will not be released for a while, as they mentioned that it was a toss-up which one would be produced first. But with this teaser, it is confirmed that they will be focusing on Mortal Kombat for this year. Either way, we are excited to see where the 12th game in the series will take the story of our favorite combatants, after the time-traveling events of the 11th game.

PlayStation Plus Monthly Games

May has arrived, and with it comes a great opportunity for all PS Plus members. Get ready to add some fun filled games to your library, including GRID Legends, Descenders, and Chivalry 2. What's not to love about high stakes driving or laying siege to the castle as arrows blanket the battlefield. All you have to do is head over to the PlayStation Store on your account and claim the game by adding it to your library.
