Speculation on Starfield's Success

With all the new players with vastly different opinions taking a look at Starfield, it can be hard to tell what the future entails for the game. We discussed a few of the critics in the last newsletter, but I think we have pinned down the most important issues. The first is the limit to how players can explore planets and the variety of planetary exploration. This is a major issue for an exploration game like Starfield, as many players have been saying that upon completing the missions zones generated for each planetary landing, they do not feel incentivized to explore the rest of the area as it serves no purpose. Contrast this with Bethesda games like Fallout and Elder Scrolls where side content would always be found by exploring past what the game directly tells you to do. That is definitely going to hinder the replayability of Starfield when compared to the likes of Skyrim. Saying all this is not just to put down the game, but a way to see how the formula can be improved upon. Starfield, despite some glaring issues, is very well liked by a huge group of fans and will continue to sell well. The game is clearly filled to the brim with content, and only time will tell if the story and gameplay loop will keep players coming back for more. If you have any insights into what will keep you playing Starfield or what has been keeping you away from the game, let us know so we can include your speculations in our next review or newsletter!

Major Updates to Baldur's Gate 3: Crossplay and More!

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been a huge success for Larian Studios, and the developers have been taking feedback from players very seriously by continuing to add major quality of life updates. After people said they wanted to be able to dismiss friends’ player characters, Larian quickly released an update allowing Withers to be capable of doing just that. Major bug fixes and follower additions have also been coming in to bolster the player experience. The most recent major news from the developers is the promise that crossplay will be coming to BG3. Most likely as a result of BG3’s huge success on the PS5 market.

Only Up Removed From Steam

After blowing up on the market earlier this summer and becoming a twitch sensation, Only Up has officially been pulled from the Steam Market. Only Up developer, SCKR Games stated, “The game has kept me under a lot of stress all these months. Now I want to put the game behind me.” With several accusations of asset ripping and copyright infringements, the game may be out of commission entirely. SCKR Games however, does plan to continue working in the game design market.
